Ashes to Ashes

by NightPersonality   May 9, 2009

Inspiration is but ash within my soul,
My fire is lost, and my green eyes dull.
I cannot smile, I cannot frown;
I will not drink, and I will not drown.

My flesh is bleeding with open sores,
My country has divided, from shameful wars.
Hope is but a mind's deceitful trick,
And I shall not be fooled by the dying sick.

My fingernails flake from malnutrition,
My world is in ruins, from demolition.
My heart is broken, and here I fall,
My knees are skinned, yet I still crawl.
