Spinning on the Merri-Go-Round

by Sarah Ann   Jun 8, 2009

They said they'd do anything to take me down,
Put my feelings on pause, turn the music up loud
Spin me fast till I'm sick on the merri-go-round
But I'm loving this ride, you can't pull me out now

I'm not drunk on his love, but I'm high off my feet
So I'm tossing and turning and losing my sleep
Disconnected; yet tied in and feeling complete
In this world I am lost, on this set I'm in deep

Change. What a movement, my powerful foe
Bombarding existence, well what do you know?
I refuse. You can leave...
No, now you must go.

I am...dizzy. White flags are out on this game
I am...rejected, failed, alone, and afraid
Accustomed to routine, yet, threatened.
Derranged.
I know what it feels like now to decay

To be poisoned with hope, and watch as it bleeds,
Sip on disappointment, before the cup leaks,
I fear an addiction.
(You'll never be free...)
So come forth and wallow,
Intoxicate me.
