The Aftermath

by ChallengexEverything   Jul 10, 2009

You don't know what I've been through
You don't know what I've seen
I've killed so many people
Just to watch them bleed

You have no idea what goes on
What goes through my head
They come back to haunt me
I know they want me dead

I've made people fall
I've seen them die
It all happened so fast
They didn't even have time to cry

I hear things around me
When I sleep at night
i can't even sleep through it
Because i wake up in fright

I have nightmares of what I did
They sent me out to kill
They said its was my duty
And gave me some pills

I can't wait until i die
Till its my turn
Just want to end it all
I want my mind to burn

The service ruined my life
My memories will never fade
And now I have to live with them
"I'm a victim of the choices I made"

----------------------------------------------------------------
I wrote this after listening to my boyfriends grandpa tell me about his life in the Army. It made him cry (which i felt bad about) because he said it was a perfect depiction of what he went through. And he actually said that last line. I would be happy to tell you more or explain it a little bit if you don't understand it, just comment or pm, or both :]

the last line is beautiful.. very deep n intense.. powerful line.
