The Laconic Wedding

by Twisted Heart   Aug 13, 2009

Noble words spoken from quivering lips
The lie came so easy to say
Content was the man who stood by her side
As she wielded the slur on that day

Vespers of wrong I saw in her smile
As she turned from his kiss way too soon
Barren of truth I wanted to cry
For the gleaming was seen by the moon

Tepid cool words from heart made of stone
Beheld by the lady in white
Why pain comes to me as I sit alone
"She's lying!!!" I wanted to cry

But I said not a word as they walked down the aisle
For the love he held deep in his soul
Would one day become as fake as her smile
Ironic how love can turn cold.
