Unraveled Souls

by Jennifer RIP Lesthat Hayden   Aug 21, 2009

Circling unraveled souls are creatures of the sky
with shrill calls echoing to lands far away.
Carrying the message that one love was born and
another love killed.

Cross the world to get to a better place,
better simply because it's a different kind of
hell and a different kind of heaven. Trap
yourself there with a key of ice so it may
melt to entomb you forever.

I've been trying to trap light in a jar
to give you on your journey of darkness,
but light has its way of escaping and
casting greater shadows than before,
encompassing you permanently in a silhouette.

Perhaps the light found in burning hearts will be
enough to help direct the lesser of dangerous
paths ahead, or perhaps those hearts will
simply turn to ash leaving nothing behind but
black soot.

Relying on what ears hear isn't the best
way to get through life, but I suppose it's better
than a darkness with no voices, though voices come
from people, and people lie. A voyage alone may
be a wise choice, but could drive one insane.

Insane enough for their soul to unravel,
and we all know what becomes of unraveled souls,
they get trapped by circling creatures
of the sky.
