Lost Within (Trochee)

by Meena Krish   Sep 3, 2009

White papers hold scent of age
pictures start to fade
history caught in a blue cage
truth, eyes cant evade

Mind goes on far away trip
fingers turn to look
day sleeps, night begins to drip
lost within a book

7/5 Trochee, created by Andrea Dietrich, of 2 or more quatrain stanzas with the following
set rules:

Meter: 7/5/7/5
Rhyme Scheme: a/b/c/b or a/b/a/b

The meter is trochee, which means alternating stressed and unstressed beats in each line, with each line beginning and ending in a stressed syllable. This is a simple lyrical type little poem, so rhymes will be basic, nothing fancy. The poem itself should give a description of something of interest to the poet. There is not a set number of these quatrain type stanzas, but a typical 7/5 Trochee would consist of two quatrains, with the second stanza serving to tie up the idea presented in the first stanza.

This is an interesting form. I love the rhythm. The topic is one many can relate to. It is so nice to get lost in a good book.

What a wonderful piece you have penned. I always loved reading and could get lost in time in a good novel. Great job on the club challenge.

Clever write, Meena..this is a very difficult job for someone who's fist language is not English and you pulled it off brilliantly!

Indeed reading books is a way to get lost in a world of its own....so much wisdom and pleasure can be derived from them:)

Very well done on both the format and the wording in this!

    *hugs*

A good book does the same things for me that you have written about. It takes me to places I have never been and allows me to become a part of other families, imparts knowledge. Well done with the form.
