Homecoming

by Daisy if you do   Sep 28, 2009

Finally!
My workday is done,
It's a long haul home,
down winding roads,
over bridges,

Four counties away,
(sigh)... lies my destination

But for now?
Well,
Beemers, Benz, and Caddy's
congest my pathway forward.

Red lights,
stop signs,
pedestrians,
halt any distance between us.

Neon signs
illuminate the boulevard.
Beckoning business from me,
Occasionally....they win.

Four way stop,
halfway point
'tween here and yonder,

Then,
mile marker posts
are the only indication
of distance

More prevalent now
are loblollies,
honeysuckle,
wildflowers.

Air becomes heavy with fragrance,
Clearing my senses,
At last

Up the hillside,
then
d

-----n again,
My eyes bask in
autumnal sunset grandeur

Westbound highway ninety-six
over the Flint,
to "River Bottom"

The light on the tower is out....

"Ole Lady Reynolds" must have died
Perhaps it was Potterville,
My guess is someone made Tater Salad

Red clay,
Kudzu,
Taylor Orchards,
what a beautiful sight!

Cows,
peach groves,
Dirt roads greet me,

Dandelions dance
in the wake of
My Homecoming!

ps: This site indeed has many little people who down vote work they could never create themselves. Don't let it ruin the joy you have in posting, one day they will grow tired of their stupid little game;)
