I'll Try

by Countess of Monte Cristo   Oct 17, 2009

I sit by myself and i think for a while
About questions that i need to ask.
Am i here for a purpose
And did i fulfill my task?

In life, there are certain questions
Whose answers are pretty hard to find.
Like why evil things occur
To people who are kind.

It feels like I've lived here forever
But I've been here for twenty one years.
I've known danger far too many times
That it no longer causes fear.

Yes, sometimes I'm tired of life
And sick of all the lies.
But as long as i can breathe
Then my duty is to try.

I'll try to smile one more time
And i'll try it forever more.
Until the lord will take my life
And my soul will somewhere soar.

I'll try to laugh so loud
Even though my heart is aching within.
If taking the higher road is wrong
Than I'll gladly embrace my sin.

And I'll smile and be so nice.
Even though my heart is hurting inside.
Wondering who you're with right now
Instead of being by my side.

* Inspired by Charlie Chaplin's " Smile."

We all at times have to try and hide our hurt and pain behind a smile so no one knows how we feel. Well done.
