Growing into it

Let me tell you a loving story;
a fairy tale if called as such.
A stubborn man-- a flirtatious girl,
that loved each other so much.

A game of baseball being played,
as strong stares were exchanged.
Lost letters were to be written,
and scheduled dates rearranged.

But on November 8th it happened;
a loving life promise was made.
Although this love was to be secret,
a lovely couple they portrayed.

While loving each other wasn't easy,
fighting and letting loved ones go.
They have made it fifty-seven years;
and their love continues to grow.
