Unheard Pleas

by Mimed Lovette   Nov 13, 2009

"Maybe I should let go
of everything I used to own."
Choking on the words she spewed,
she wonders if she really could.

I look at the smile she wears,
the corners tug, I feel the strain.
I search within the eyes she holds,
an empty soul, I feel her pain.

"See these drawings on my hands?
Each one painfully carved when I'm sad"
Tracing slowly over them,
fingers danced upon each bend.

These lines crawl over her arms,
each one inching close to heart.
Behind every piece of art
lies a story, weaved from start.

"You can't do this to yourself!",
but she doesn't hear these words I scream.
For she builds a fortress high,
to stop the rest from reaching within.

But she will never know that
the only one she can never stop
from hurting her...was herself

Very haunting. Sad. I hate to see someone harm themselves in order to release pain held within. Great job. It spoke of your subject subtly without actually coming out and saying "cutting".

I loved this poem. I usually don't like dialog in poems, but this worked reeeaally well. It was kind of creepy, which I really liked. It all flowed together really well. Rhyming was good. :] Great job with this.
