To Be With Me

by Kayla   Nov 19, 2009

If all the world was not cruel,
Each and every day wasn't a duel.
If we could just live off of love alone,
Never having to worry about the unknown.

If money magically grew on trees,
And we could grow old and just be free.
If you could promise me a beautiful house,
Maybe one day to even be your spouse.

Then I would come be your love,
Your precious angel from above.
But this world is horrid and cold,
Another disaster always ready to unfold.

You don't have the money to keep us alive,
Not even a sturdy car for us to drive.
You can only promise simple pleasures,
Each and every one short-lived treasures.

I need a man who's financially stable,
Someone that's able to put food on our table.
Roses won't do me good whenever they wilt,
Then you'll feel absolutely nothing but sheer guilt.

So, go find someone else for you to hold,
Cause you can't touch this heart of gold.
Maybe then you'll be able to see,
You just aren't good enough to be with me.

You hope you all like this!! I just wrote it for my senior English class as a response to the famous poem "The Passionate Shepherd. Thanks for reading!

All the times I have talked to you, and I have forgotten how amazing you are at writing.
The flow was flawless, and the genuine meaning great.

    Love You! <3
