The Apple Never Falls Far From The Tree

by Melpomene   Jan 24, 2010

"All that we are is the result of what we have thought. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him."
-Buddha

To the lilac stars
that embrace the sky;
--I forgive you.
The path you led me
was much too cynical,
Pandora's box was
tragedy.

Tick Toc --
It was a time bomb
ready to be detonated.
Waiting for the stars
to explode;
executing the sky.

He, The Capital of Vices.

I trusted charcoal lips
which bled pastel
upon horizons.
Cherry coloured --
symbolic of thine heart.
Love differs from lust
I asked for abstention,
Purity; Overthrown!
and four the lucky number.
Oh Chasity.

I, the Holy Virtues.

Sinking venom to my veins
like a malice wolf
obscuring limbs.
I offered him charity
on silver platter
though he isolated
his heart in tombs
of greed.

He lured me with scent,
-- danced within his touch,
firefly's were the poison;
I slowly began to taste.
Gluttony with exotic trade
monitored my temperance
soul astray.

Detective I am,
for I clued sloth like sins,
She loyal like an ant; living
to serve her Queen.
He became haphazard.
Was blind but now --I see.

Patient with hieroglyphs
while stippling me a story.
He became a violent butterfly,
thrashing brittle wings my way.
-- Call him wrath.

Tick Toc --
It was a time bomb
ready to be detonated.
Waiting for the stars
to explode;
executing the sky.

Bravery corrupted his pride,
My humility salvaged the stars
We smile each time he wishes.
-- envious of my heart..

He; a Shadow.
and I, no longer a Silhouette.

`For an RTVW challenge where we were to pick a quote and write a poem from that quote. Thank you Nema for the inspiration to write.

    ^Pandora's box was
    tragedy. ^

    You need to either say tragic or A tragedy. It doesn't make sense how it is right now.

    You have such a distinctive style of writing and never cease to amaze me. This was no different. Imagination was definatly there, I was amazed by 'lilac stars' I immediately fell in love with this poem from the start. Its definatly a challenge to pick one favorite part, I couldnt stop reading. Nicely done .

    I can not pick a favorite part. It was uniquely penned. Great imagery, word choice, use of metaphors, flow and structure.

    This piece was thought provoking and seemed to have little pieces of wisdom thrown in here and there amongst the metaphors and vivid imagery. Combines with the clever, articulate word choice made this piece excellent!
