Pathetic Substitute

by Countess of Monte Cristo   Feb 4, 2010

I look at someone like yourself,
And i see a serious case of hopelessness.
Very much living in denial,
Trying to fake a laugh to show that you are happy.

But we all know that you are far from that,
We all know what you are made of.
Giving yourself more worth than you'll deserve,
And treating everyone like they are beneath you.

By God's grace, tell me,
Will you be taking all your diamonds with you when you die?
Will you be taking your name, your money?
Do you intend to be buried in the sky instead of the sand?

Forget not- Others greater than you ended up in the dust,
Only to have their good memories immortal.
But you? You have nothing that deserves immortality,
Only the infinite number of people you've hurt.

You have a big black void inside your soul,
That you're trying to fill in a pitiful way.
But don't you know that....
Outside show is a pathetic substitute for inner dissatisfaction?

Every action and word that comes out of you,
Incredibly fills me with disgust.
You really are absorbed into yourself,
So much so that you think life revolves around you.

Poor thing- Has anyone diagnosed your disease yet?
Does it even have a name or a cure?
All i can say is that.. Your outside show
Is a pathetic substitute for your inner dissatisfaction.

Because no matter what you say or do,
The beautiful mask will reveal your ugly face.
And despite your fake laughs and smiles,
I know you are a desperate, desperate human within.

*This is dedicated to someone who is sick in the head.
