First Non-birthday

by Larry Chamberlin   Feb 25, 2010

Gone again, another light faded
Into the bleak background energy
Of the universe, material disolution
Done, interred in memories alone.

Still we sense you, sometimes
Here in the corner, moving things,
Letting us know you'll be awhile
Before the transition is complete.

Take your time, we're happy
That you want to hang around
Even just a bit longer; leave a note,
Let us know what you want from us.

If it's in our power, you know
We'll all chip in and get it or do it;
Anything to make it easier for you;
Just don't think we'll forget you.
