Prisoner of Silence

by Larry Chamberlin   Feb 26, 2010

He trapped her in silence;
He trapped her inside;
Not a whimper or cry,
Just the empty room
Where his thoughts shoulda been.

What does he feel?
What does he want?
Not a clue floats out
From that eerie dark
Cavern: his emotional coal bin.

Still she struggles,
Strives to connect.
Love strikes a match,
But no fire blooms;
Her tortured efforts wear thin.

How long will she stay?
How long does it take
for a breath to die?
This stillborn love
Gives nothing but pain, so when?
