The Other Half of my Heart

by Adelaide   Mar 2, 2010

Half my jagged heart lies across my chest;
the cold metal numbs my skin.
You have the other half of my heart;
each half cannot live on its own.
Our friendship needs "us" to be whole;
side by side the parts of our heart interlock.
Alone each is just a broken heart;
together the love in our heart grows.
My finger traces over the jagged fragment on my skin;
I need the other half of my heart.
