Heart upon a Hook

by Jennifer RIP Lesthat Hayden   Mar 20, 2010

Like fairy tales in picture books
you placed my heart upon a hook.
While reeling in you tug and pull
and on my heart this takes a toll.

Once you were barely there,
just the glimmer in my stare,
but then you came along and stayed,
enabling dark times to fade.

Alas, dark times like to fight back,
and during their shadowed attack
our alliances grew weak
and now for warmth again I seek.

Come back to me my good comrade.
Don't become the friend I had.
This fight won't end with you not here.
Don't join the rest and disappear.
