Wrapped around your finger <resubmitted>

All the years we have shared this love, I've had few things to regret.
but one thing re-plays in my mind, I am unable to forget.
It happened many years ago, it was a special day.
I scripted almost every line, I knew just what to say.
I first approached your Father, to ask him for your hand.
He said yes with a tear in his eye,
this was hardly what I planned.
We shared a private moment then,
all tears, but nothing sad.
I shook his hand, hugged him too, and for the first time called him "Dad".
I then came down your basement stairs, searching for your face.
I made my way across the room, this was the perfect place.
I knelt before my only love, the best thing in my life,
I slipped the ring on to your hand, saying, "will you be my wife?"
You said yes without delay, tears began to flow.
I was so very happy then, it certainly had to show.
One small thing had me concerned it was the diamond's size.
I searched for your disapproval too, but none came, to my surprise.
From that day, until right now, I've wished I had more to share
a bigger stone in your ring, but you didn't seem to care.
It makes me feel so blessed today to have my wish come true.
A beautiful ring with a marquise stone, 1/2 carat just for you...

Love you always and forever.
