Woodstock

by Forever Yours   Jun 10, 2010

It wasn't so long ago,
Those red summer days.
But too long ago for me,
To have nothing but delay.

Now we wish we had been there,
Had been old enough to recall.
Out to the east, they all rushed in,
Loving each other, one and all.

Gray and spiraling into the sky,
Our memories blurring away.
Ambient sounds from all around,
Filling the air and taking the day.

Was it so long ago?
Those green hazy nights.
With our peace and love and happiness,
We forgot how to fight.

Old signs of us, we reminisce,
Two slender fingers above the rest.
Our choices and our charities,
United under one common crest.

Too long ago they were,
Those yellow summer suns.
Where's the smile, the love, the noise?
Now that all is said and done.

Together it was,
That we became.
Alone is now,
Or so we proclaim.
