Finally Letting You Go

The time I feared is past
My birthday has been and gone
Still often in my thoughts
But I do not think of you at dawn.

I am beginning to remove photos
For my room looked like a shrine
You spoke with great wisdom
Saying you'd live your life through mine.

Time has been a healer
Tears no longer fall each night
Some days are worse than others
I just want to hug you tight.

This year is nearly over
It will soon be time for snow
I still miss you terribly
But I'm finally starting to let go.
