I Will Not Take a Knee

by Ronald Edwards   Sep 3, 2010

*** i wrote this after liberating many Iraqi citizens and soldiers from a prisoner of war camp ***

Scourged and beaten under thumb,
pushed until the brink.
When salvations out of sight,
no thoughts to clearly think.

Injustices that rise and swell
like mountains hard as stone.
I fear you not as you portray
I see you as crone.

Defiance is my only way,
this man you will not break.
From deep inside true character
a Phoenix will awake.

You disgust me to my soul.
Can you feel my rage?
Before you see an enemy
no longer in his cage.

God forgive what I do next,
carnage is my friend.
I spare not even one of you,
this vengeance has no end.

To the birds of heaven,
a feast I make for them.
As parts of you lay on the ground,
your flesh I will condemn.

Pushed to far, an animal,
a beast you have let out.
I hear no screams, my ears are deaf,
in Hell youll have no clout.

With my last breath in light of day
I do for all to see.
Never will I bow to you
I will not take a knee.
