The path you've chosen for me

Why is it you must take away,
the only hope that kept me holding on.
the hope of feeling, myself again.
your keeping me away from,
everything that i need
and forcing me to be,
someone i don't want to be.
a life, i've been living, where i can't possibly be me.
i want to be happy,
but you keep choosing my paths.
making OUR decisions,
when they aren't yours alone to make.
and i wonder how i'm ever supposed to be truly happy this way.
do i fake a smile, just so you feel ok?
