The Kitten and the String

by Jad   Dec 2, 2010

White ears erect
while cocked head ponders,
admiring the lose thread
draping from the bed.

The dirty white tail,
swishes and twitches,
while the amber eyes
watch the string pass by.

Alas curiosity
reaches forward
As pink pads and claws
grasp the urging call.

The sting is grasped~
Tug-a-warred with, yet
holding fast above
the playful paws shove.

But excitement leaves
as the kitten looks,
seeing afar off a ball
trailing after it, down the hall.

Not a poem we'd normally expect from you, It's nice to see you stepping out of what is the norm for you and writing something completely different. I loved it, I am more of a dog person but you can clearly picture this and it makes you smile, kittens are so adorable and the things they do are quite funny, their personality is one hard to match. Excellent.

Your poem touched a soft spot within me. Have always been a cat lover, and live with cats now. Your poem created a very real image in my mind of the kitten, playing with the string. You have obviously had kittens as pets.
