A Punctured Balloon

by Melissa   Dec 8, 2010

I feel deflated, like a birthday balloon
post party,
just hovering about the ground
with this stupendous weight
of despondency
on my chest

Biding time, gravity and I,
we search for life in the cracks
of this sidewalk,
as though there were still some soil left
to burgeon a notion
that has nothing to do
with vitality

Still, I probe

This poem makes me feel it (what you are feeling) in a very strong way. It's worded incredibly well and the imagery of the balloon is gorgeous. You got my vote.

Hi i hope my vote helps your poem
its deserving as the meaning is so
depressive and yet with a little hope
that balloon could touch the heights
    of joy.....Paulx
