Energetics and Illusions

by Lu   Feb 9, 2011

We seek truth in love,
yet blindly embrace sweet lies.
Enduring hurt and heartbreak,
praying for a glimpse
of a Mockingbird
perched on the ledge at dawn.

Come daybreak we pluck feathers
from tangled hair
yet -
wipe regret
from wrinkled sheets.
Thus left to ponder why -
a burning tongue yearns
for the pounding pulse
of liquefied adulation.

A quest to quench
the unquenchable thirst
-of acceptance -
that lingers
in the core of our mind.
A thirst so powerful
and destructive,
that once we are fully consumed
by the need to feel loved,
all things we once adored
in our being ...
are forgotten.

Thank you to Nana for inspiring this write.

    Very very true! :) I love the last bit;

    A thirst so powerful
    and destructive,
that once we are fully consumed
by the need to feel loved,
    all things we once adored
    in our being ...
    are forgotten.

This was probably the best part, for me anyway. The thirst causing us to forget all things we adored; very captivating.

Lol, your poem was no cliche also!

    A thirst so powerful
    and destructive,
that once we are fully consumed
by the need to feel loved,
    all things we once adored
    in our being ...
    are forgotten.

    ^^

How true, how true...even animals need love..even plants grow better when they are spoken to!

    Great stuff:)

    *hugs*

Such truth in the above lines and in the poem as a whole if I am honest

^^ Such a tongue twister but a Really good freaking stanza! I loved this part

The ending was quite sad to me because its so true...It reminds me of breaking up and looking back on things we once loved and were head over heals for, in our minds, with time....we do slowly forget :(

    Still enjoyed this write!
