Eagle Angel and Devil

by Amy Dunlop   Mar 23, 2011

In my dreams I see an eagle
Flying High and free
His feathers are unruffled
As he turns his eye to me

"Come and fly a while
Above the clouds and rain
Where roots of earth can't bind you
And sun rays shed your pain,

Fly above the spires
Of the churches where they pray
The clouds up there are silver
Instead of steely Grey

You pray for your salvation
I offer you the chance
To say no unto the Devil
And delay his deadly dance"

Then he shed his feathers
And his body glowed so bright
An angel stood before me
A vision in the night

"I've heard your pleas to end it
These thoughts from me cant hide
In this life I am your guardian
In the next I'll be your guide

You wish to sleep forever
An endless sleep of death
But allow me a mere second
Before you draw your final breath

It's to your heart I'd have you listen
For that's the core of life
Forget about the hatred
The pain and fear and strife

Love is on it's way to you
Embrace it and it's worth
For I have always loved you
From the moment of your birth"
