To Zareldyn and his bride

by Larry Chamberlin   Jul 21, 2011

Again, good fortune for you and your bride;
from one who has been there more than once,
the best advice I can give is in this poem:

Don't get in the way of your happiness;
others will strive to make this day special
for both of you - accept their gifts of joy.

Don't think you'll feel a fairy tale hero,
life continues, garments need buttoning;
it's special despite - look for the sacred.

Your bride is encircled by everyone,
it is her day - be her Galahad kneeling
beside or before her as she needs.

You will be waiting for whatever pin
will burst this balloon - don't;
seek no problems, this day is exempt.

Nothing in life needs perfection,
people are able to gloss over tiny cracks
like icing smooths over uneven cake.

Happiness is ephemeral, instead
always try to do the right thing; however,
today, happiness is the right thing.

Life together begins at the altar;
this wedding day holds no promises more
than the pledges you give to each other.

May you kneel as two people
rise as one couple
and become a strong family.

    Nice poem. You got your point across. It was easy to read and understand. The wording was good and the flow was ok.

    gave it a 5/5
