Once Upon a Time

by FenderGrl   Jul 22, 2011

Once upon a time,
on these lonely pavements, shoes followed each other side by side,
Hands were jointed there secretly, secluded to a world that could not recognize,
they would misguide-- Oh the beauty behind these little lies!

A resplendent set where there was life once upon a time...
I can almost hear an echo underneath that tree...
There's a brand new sheet of grass,
A plundered solitary site of a yesterday, but today should be...

And I remember you sat there, jesting eyes, memorable laughs,
and I was fortunate to be golden, to wear the crown that you gave to me...
But history won't repeat itself, it moves on...
And that place we used to run away to, it lives on... forever, like we were supposed to.

This empty seat... in my trunk, and these old clothes,
Still smell like your cologne...
And that place screams your name,
Only your name-- for one half is present...
These feelings and this weather are now so unpleasant...

I would stray past it, and all you've left behind,
Starting with these memories of once upon a time--
All this pride I won't swallow for weakness,
So much to say, But I shouldn't go there...
I will not go there...

...Would you??
