Stripped

by Faithless   Aug 23, 2011

Strip me of my color,
and no longer will I be judged
based on my skin;
racist being unavailable
in my dictionary

Strip me of my luxuries,
I'll be no different from
a man finding left over
food from the trash;
surviving poverty.

Strip me of my beliefs,
living life without laws,
kosher or halal wouldn't
be of concern to me; misdirected
from the path of my faith.

Strip me off my clothes,
ranks, fashions and uniform,
no longer segregate me within
a certain community;
rendering me naked.

Strip me of everything,
and you'll see that
I'm the equivalent of
an innocent newborn;

neither a saint nor a sinner.

    A beautiful poem. I often feel that it's so hard to simply be, when there are people who will judge you for no matter what you do or say. 5/5

    Very inspirational and full of so much wisdom. Definitely a poem everyone should get their hands on and take to heart.

    One quick thing:

    "and no longer will I be judge"

    judge should be judged, yeah? :) Great write!

    I don't know how I missed this poem, I am quit vigilant in checking for your work.
    You're such a good poet, and this was so full of wisdom and beauty. I have no votes left but you can bet I will vote for it come next week.

    I loved the message in this! A beautiful write! I do agree with Ingrid, it would read better with strip instead of stripped...otherwise it was awesome!

    Beautiful poem Azzza, I'm surprised both to see you writing again and at the same time, impressed with its perfect flow, precise word choice and deep imagery that touched emotions beyond the rational mind.

    Keep it up partner!
