Breathing.

by livefreebright   Aug 29, 2011

Every time I catch the pace of your breath I find that it matches mine

and I love waking, feeling our legs intertwined

you’re so asleep but your arm’s so tight around my waist

just to know I’m here, just to know you want me here

and it’s the simple little things that make me smile

I can’t fall back to dreams because I’d rather be awake now

The sun can’t creep through to reach us here

We’ll pretend it’s pouring instead

It’s an excuse to ignore the alarms

Though I may change my pace I find you always seem to keep up

I used to think you were the calm one

But I’m finding you need to relax

Just breathe along with me, dear

We’ll stay right here and pretend it’s raining still

Hearts cannot race nor can they break

Because you take such good care of mine

Someday we may need to take back every word that was said

When I can’t fall asleep I focus on my breathing

I’ll wonder if yours flows the same

Knowing that, when the sun reapperas

I won’t be asleeping alone.
