Where do broken hearts go?

by Yakari Gabriel   Aug 30, 2011

Do they take the midnight
train to a broken broadway...
to perform for one another
all the scars that made them?

Or perhaps pack emotions,
broken dreams and unsaid
promises,
and wash them of
in the waters of an unknown river..

where do they go?...

do they hold hands
and chitchat about what
would've,should've but couldn't be?..

or,
do they march
in an unsteady beat
to a lifeless park,
where their mistaken
owners will never find them?

-

I might as well..
quit the questioning
and face the answer

(I do not know where broken
hearts go)

but,
I'm certain mine is,
where ever it is they go.

I'm glad I finally found some time to read and comment your poetry, or I would have truly missed some great writes by you, miss thang!

The imagery here is overwhelming in each stanza, and it has such different images. I can picture a series of artwork connected to this piece, you have so clearly laid it out for me to see.

I love the second stanza I think it was about washing in an unknown river. It really gave a twinge of sadness, even more so than the rest of the poem. The lonely feeling struck me hard, here. This is such an emotional poem that it's hard to pinpoint what made me feeling which emotion.. I was in rollercoaster mode.

That ending is lovely, Yaki! I was waiting for an ending like this, because I know you and your poetry :) You never disappoint!

Yaki , honestly, Ive always said this about a lot of your poems, but i feel like they are something my children will read in English books one day, like I have Emily D ickensons poems...this was amazing. The end really was superb seriously!! I liked the fact you didnt know where broken hearts go but you stated yours must be where they are..that was just realy creative :) Loved it
