To My Mum

by Paul Gondwe   Aug 31, 2011

Started out tiny as a seed,
growing to know what is good and bad,
evil thoughts, money and greed

The grueling nine months
Suffering for the unknown yet hoping for a child
Never knowing whether it would grow to be good or wild
Tempers of moderate or mild

You had the faith in good things to come,
the belief of happy times
Not knowing you would be bailing out the child for crimes

A true blessing to humanity,
mother, holding us not to fall to insanity
With a love so pure, crystal white,
shining bright as light from a thousand bulbs

Sparking the flame of trust, joy and happiness,
the backbone to everyone's success
The pillar of hope in every family

Working hard in class to better my grades,
to see a distinction on my degree
So that you see me grow to the man I should be,
someone of high class, of caliber

Your love extends high like that of an Amazon tree
With comforting words,
you put my mind at ease,
watching over me like a Guardian angel
