Happy

The sun is shining today so brightly,
no cloud could stand a chance.
The rays of light shine
like flashlight beams on my bare skin
through gaps in the branches above me
like a blanket warming and comforting.

As I lay here relaxing and
breathing in the sweetly scented air.
While bird trill unseen in the trees,
sprinkles of water escape one lonely cloud
cooling my flesh, it couldn't feel better.
I can't remove this smile from my lips.

How could this day get any better?
Happiness is the only emotion I'm feeling right now.
Surrounded by nature during its gentlest of times
thinking of nothing but the beauty around me.
As I watch the water of a stream wash over round rocks,
tadpoles and little fish dart around, silver and brown blurs.

A butterfly flutters to me alighting upon my hand,
keeping me company for a good ten minutes
tickling my skin with its tine little feet,
I couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Laughter shook my body scaring my little friend away
Now it won't stop, it has taken me over.
If someone walked by they would think I am crazy.
Nothing could put a damper on this day
not even a sudden down poor could bring me down.

I'm feeling lighter then I have in a long time
no dark thoughts cross my mind
as I start sing a song out loud
making it up as I go, happiness
Hmm, I have never felt it like this before.
