I Love You

by sweet escape   Sep 20, 2011

I love you.
It seems like a simple phrase, no?
But what does that mean?
Love, the word itself is a little ambiguous.
So, Love, what is it?
Love can be defined as an emotion of strong affection and personal attachment...
But is that all one can say of love?
Strong affection? Personal attachment?
Anyone who has felt the throws of love knows better.
Love is the feeling of physical pain when you leave my side.
Love is the feeling of safety I feels in your arms.
Love is the joy I feel at a slight brush of skin.
Love is the ability to accept you for all they are, and all you are not.
Love is the slight crinkle of the nose or the squinting of the eyes as you smile at me.
Love is the sound of laughter as it comes from your mouth.
Love is the kisses we share as we go through the day.
Love is the little worries I have for you and even the way you brush them off.
Love is the way you stroke my hair as I lay on your lap.
Love is... all that we are.
So, know that, when I say I love you, those are the things I see.
And I mean every last syllable of that one simple phrase.

NOTE: I haven't written in a long time. This is a little bit of a come back. I found love. Lasting and true. And it has inspired me. Just know I am very rusty. And this is more of a conscious flow of words then a well formed poem. Think of it as free verse, for that is as close (if not exactly) what it is. :D I hope you enjoy it...and my return.
