34% Illumination

by Melissa   Sep 26, 2011

Sometimes I get so giddy on possibility
that I spin wildly with the world,
like some nocturnal animal
that has not yet been grazed by sunlight

and though my heart knows the patters of dewdrops,
she imagines, if for only a moment, never being stolen
by Summertime

because lovers are nothing like daisies,
they eventually unearth thorns
and my, how yours sting

just let me spin a little while longer, dear

Oh Melissa how I love your work! you always take me somewhere new, a different place for poetry, and actually the title makes so so so much sense for me, such an interesting mind you have over your shoulders..

the 30's percent gave me 1st a hint of a beginning since it's no even half the percentage..but almost there lol.

then I read again and I started to sink in the image of the dizziness madness..which you worded as " I spin wildly with the world,
    like some nocturnal animal
that has not yet been grazed by sunlight"

I mean omg, that gave me chills to just imagine it, someone so eager..damn me if I don't see this on the front page..

however reaching that part that the title made so much sense, especially when you brought up summertime and saying if only for few moments, though you already are familiar with the let us say "language" of falling dewdrops which may stand for many things in my opinion and not to be stolen ..as if it would last forever how I love the way I am thinking of your poem lol :]

and how true..your 3rd stanza is, very mature and nailed to the point....but i believe even that sting would be worth it at times ;), anyway,

just let me spin a little while longer, dear

After reading the poem several times, I'm still not sure what the title really means, but it's captivating nonetheless. I liked how flowery this poem was, or let's say adorable, because I can imagine a little girl twirling about in a daisy landscape.

"that I spin wildly with the world,
    like some nocturnal animal"
^ These lines caught my eye immediately. A lot of objects spin on this poetry site, it seems like we like to let our persona's do that ... but never has it been connected with the world.

This snapshot-style of yours never grows old, I love it.
