Not a Fairytale at Christmas Time. My Secret Message to You.

by The Invisible Boy   Nov 9, 2011

It's Christmas Eve here
But I'm still working
The fact you're not near
Is the only reason I'm hurting

I don't mind missing the fun
Because minus you
There'll be none

Walking through the drifting snow
The cheers and songs sung in the pub
If only you could know
Seeing the drunks pronouncing their love

Snowflakes fall like frozen tears
As I wonder where you are
I haven't felt like this for years
In my eye you're the twinkling star

A Fairytale of New York it's not
But I wish it was a fairytale
Then it might be a happy plot
Instead for me it's a lonely trail

Now it's New Year's Eve
And I'm here in work again
Wiping a tear on my sleeve
Feeling an empty pain

You're still not here
The night I could tell you
You're no where near
Without even a clue

A New Year's kiss
Who will yours be?
I'll be a miss
But I wish it was me

Just finished work but I'm back in tomorrow
New Year's Eve and then New Year's Day
I wish a few hours with you I could borrow
But there's not so I may aswell work away

And when you return so will my smile
You won't have a clue how I felt
But I'll know it's been a long while
Since my legs felt like they'd melt

Then I'll go on
Holding my secret
Until one day you'll really be gone
And I'll be full of regret

So here's my secret message to you
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
I really wish that you knew
And we would forever be together and near.
