Christmas Thought

by H E Losey   Dec 17, 2011

Did they really get it right?
When they told about that night?
Just a lone star shining bright
To show the way by its light.

Shepherds, Wise men journeying,
Searching for the new borne King.
Wise men riches they did bring,
Shepherds just came worshipping.
.
Was this child really God's Son?
Was He man kinds chosen one?
To save us all, everyone?
An awakening begun.

Two hundred ten decades hence
The world now seeming immense
Millions with Christian pretense
Yet lacking of moral sense

Who is saved, and at what cost?
If not paid, how many lost?
We pray, hoping to exhaust
The tenets that we have crossed.

"The tenets that we have crossed"

This line is a very strong finish for this well written poem that inspired me to do some deep thinking

This piece is interesting. It makes the reader stop and think for a moment, and I think that is a nice touch. The word choice seems to be the perfect choice and the flow is perfect, and seems so natural its almost unreal. The rhyme scheme is also quite natural and it is amazing. Magnificent job.
