Enlighten

by Yakari Gabriel   Jan 3, 2012

This time,
I wish not to
harm myself-

for I've had enough
of the tears,
swollen eyelids
and the quiet beating
of my heart.

this time,
I'm turning my emotions
into arrows,shovels, and
brooms.

as they pierce,
dig out and sweep off
all the doubt you
left on my forehead..

your absence
has enlightened me,
like your presence once did.

you taught me both lessons;

I could live with you,
I could live without you..

but this time,
I make the choice.

WOW! Wow, wow, wow. I was not expecting to open up this poem and be blown away.

Isn't it strange that when we experience loss, we crumple in on ourselves and self destruct? ...when what we should do is pull ourselves up by the bootstraps and give ourselves a kick in the butt. It looks like you are strong enough to do the latter now, but it's taken you a few tries, and it's taken you a few failures. What's beautiful is that you have grown, you have learned your lessons, and you are willing to put into practice your new wisdom with quiet dignity.

Remember Yakzz - Don't be your worst enemy, for you are your best friend in the end, and when you give love away, make sure you keep a little love for yourself :)

    "your absence

    I could live with you,
    I could live without you.."

    Perfection.

    Yaki,
So much emotion packed into this powerful poem. I believe it takes a true heart to be enlightened by the occurences in our life and to understand that you can live with something or without. AWESOME and congrats on the win.
