When Mary Sing's

by Maple Tree   Jan 3, 2012

Her smile greets me each morning
as within her mind, everyday is a new day
what an inspiration she is to me
but to others, they see is sadness.

The inspiring notions become quite clear
as I draw closer, kissing her on the cheek
"Morning Mariooch" her face lights up, glowing
knowing my smile is good enough, I have many names.

To Mary, I'm someone,
on her darkest days I'm the helper girl
finding her way back to her table,
doesn't matter, for in my eyes, "she is light"

This beautiful Italian princess captivates me,
for as I start to hum a certain melody, her eyes close,
suddenly she sings.... "Oi Marie, Way Marie"..
angelic tones come out of a confused shadow.

This is my gift each day at dawn, for the angel
sings to me, filling my soul, enchanting our spirits
she may have lost her memory, but not the words
When Mary sings, the world stops, and listens....

Poem two: From my first piece "Hibernation of Death".
I have chosen to start writing about my daily blessings that I receive from these remarkable angels that I am privileged to care for.. what an inspiration they are to me...

What a very touching poem. I think it is so lovely of you to write poems about the people you care for. I totally understand what you are writing about how inspiring they are and how they just get on with things, it is the people who see them who feel the sadness and the emotions and often stop seeing the beauty of the person that has always been there and never left.

I can imagine this lady singing and everyone listening to it. What a lovely image this is to hold onto.

What I also like about this poem is that it shows off your personality. It screams out how caring and kind you are and how passionate you are about your work. You clearly love what you do and although it may be hard at times, you always appreciate it like a gift. This really reflects who you are as a person. You are also a gift to this world and to everyone who has had the pleasure of being in your life.

    Lovely :) x

It is really difficult to see someone you love go through something like this though. When they cannot recognize you it is of course heartbreaking. But there are moments when they do and these moments are the ones to cherish.

I am not sure if her memory loss was due to an accident or old age (dementia). I found this poem soothing and it felt close to the heart.

My grandmother has dementia and there are days where she does not know her children or grandchildren. It's sad

    Well written poem
