Growing Up

by Ronnie   Jan 11, 2012

Everybody's having babies, they're popping out left, right and centre
Yeah that's right I want one too but only when I'm ready for the venture

Now I know we are all 'getting-on' and it could be the right time to have them
But all my mates do on facebook these days is flaunt their favourite 'little gem'

It wasn't long ago Mr 'grown up', in fact just before you had kids
You were still getting drunk, naked in town then homeward to watch dirty vids

Firstly why are you wearing those ridiculous clothes these days, have you seen yourself in the mirror?
Just coz you're a Daddy now doesn't mean you have to dress up like a complete and utter plonker!

And what happened to football on wednesdays everyone else makes it who's got a wife.
Don't give me that crap about not having money or time and family taking over your life!

So sort yourself out and free some time up for your mates, don't be selfish, ya hear?
I haven't seen you properly for ages,.. in fact,..its probably been way over a year.

"You wouldn't understand", he says, "you just wait til you have a little one"
As he stands at the door with his baby boy peering up at me and sucking his tidily formed thumb.

And his cute little eyes so innocent and bright lighting up the grace of the day
Wriggling out to jump down from his older clone's arms and toddling scruffily away

A call from the kitchen yells out "which bread dear, white loaf or brown?"
Followed up by a gentle stroke of his neck as she comes to investigate who's called around

The air was thick with contentment and peace, a binding future of loyalty and trust
No more misdirection, uncertainty or toilsome living, in a life of irresponsible lust

It hit me right there and then right where I stood, exactly what my life was missing
My own little clone to cherish and love and a wife to tickle me with kissing.

This was some time ago now and I'm proud to say that this is now how I stand...
With a beautiful Queen and 2 little soldiers and a princess all of my own brand.

The most beautiful poetry reads like prose from the heart soul ,and mind of a poet and most readers love matured feelings
