Oh, Melissa your little metaphorical pieces that pack so much punch are always such a joy to read.

I love the contrast you have in your lines, the sweet/saucy, polar opposites of how you feel.. perhaps how you currently feel now that is battling what you know you should be feeling, for your sanity?

I love the stanza about the roots in the navel - brings a very strong family like feel with the umbilical cord, makes me think that this person to you is closer than perhaps they should be. I love the imagery there, though it read pretty dark in my head, I thought it was great. :)

    "I will see this through
because the idea of you still shocks my spine
    with electricity,
    tempts my tastebuds with curiosity."

^ What a beautiful opening, one that really caught my attention and made me want to continue reading the poem. I think it's because the theme is something I, and I'm sure a lot of others, can relate to really well. The idea of something being quite ominous and unsure, the not knowing of how something may pan out, but knowing you must see it through until the end because the excitement is just something that never ceases.

    "In the end
    I'll either adore you fearlessly
and come to your arms with wild abandon,
or have sucked every pretty word
    from our imagery,
    dulled it to prose."

^^ Apologies for copying entire stanzas, but I just couldn't choose a specific part, because I could relate to it in it's entirety. I have a lot of experience with this particular feeling, especially as of late. The idea of loving and adoring someone, without any care for other aspects of the world, because right now, they are your priority. The fact that this can both be an exhilarating and positive experience, or something quite the opposite, is so profound and important - and scary.

The ending was perfect and sums up the entire piece; the theme of letting go without the car crash result, simply because of a certain kind of love that I don't think ever can be explained properly.

    I loved it. :)

    "I'll gently unfasten your roots
    from my navel
    and send you off
not with bite marks or bruises,
    but with mercy"

A favorite of all stanzas. the compassion for someone is abundant. The love and care is crystal clear. Wording excellent, with a smooth and wave-less flow.
