Days on a Ship out to sea

by Anonymous   Jan 12, 2012

Today is the same as tomorrow will be,
Repeating monotonoy unfortuneately,
Just striving to survive another day,
Counting down the seconds, praying for no delay

Yesterday was no different than today's boring reign
Eating and breathing and working for pay
Bound to this ship with nowhere to go
It's no more than a prison at sea, you know

Do you know where all of the happiness goes?
All that we've brought aboard is gone
Absorbed by the hull and dissapated to sea
Now we're all starving for a nibble of glee

Scavengers are what we all have become
Anything to provide us with a distraction
This harsh reality has turned us against eachother
Picking, and prodding, and tormenting one another

All of us trapped in this cold iron shell
I know it's time for chow I can hear the bell
I don't want to eat, let the roaches eat today
After all they always get the first bite anyway

The ladderwells cause our knees to ache
Our mattresses provide a generous supply of back pain
Tossing and turning not able to sleep
This is our Navy, this is our fleet

How long have we been out here? How many days?
When do we get to go home? Capt'n Why won't you say?
Time is slow out here in this unfriendly place
In this hostile environment, every day is the same

Aw..this is sad and touching poem. Its true sometimes we feel as if happiness has boarded a boat and has left us standing on the dock. The truth is happiness comes from being with the ones we love and sharing ourselves with others.
