Last to Know

by PinkyPrincess   Jan 13, 2012

Messages are sent,
prayers are penned,
frantic glances exchanged,
what could be happening?

It was past midnight,
I was about to dose off,
somewhere in between dreamland
and the underground nightmares.

As my eyes were about to shut,
I received the terrible news.
A prayer was sent about you;
my heart was beating rapidly.

I stared into my phone,
rereading the text message.
I froze - feeling paralyzed,
unaware - if you are dead or alive.

My world was crumbling
right before my eyes.
I had no control -
and had to wait.

Why hasn't anyone contacted me?
The worst part was being the last to know.

Though being the first one to know won't change anything but still it surely hurts realizing that you are the last one to know.
To me this was more of a release than a poem & thats what makes this one special.

Wishing for your prayers to be heard.

all the best and take care

This was intense and devastating. To be the last to know about someone you love passing is something that will be with you always.
the flow and emotional content was excellent. Good write sad subject
