You know this poem so reminds me of husbands and wives waiting at home while their loved ones go to war. The feeling of not knowing if they will be ok or if they're still alive or not.

I saw in the news recently that these people had found out that their son / brother had died via facebook. One of the friends who was with him had posted on facebook that he had passed away and the family had not been notified. I think it was by a car accident.

How heartbreaking to be the last to know or even the way you find out about something.

My heart bled reading this poem. It reminded me of so many times we were informed of sad news.

As Liz said.. I felt that it's about a soldier going to war, and his wife is home waiting for constant feedback.

This is what dramatic irony is about.. being the last to know. I LOVE how you developed that idea into a tightly structured, subtle monologue with some amazing inner thoughts.. they show great despair and the tense built is great, too.

Finding out about it on the phone, Instead of someone actually telling you in person. I can relate to this kinda.

Wonderfully written. i can relate to this. I lost a friend and i was told 2 days after he was buried so i know exactly how it feel to be the last one to know.

This was intense and devastating. To be the last to know about someone you love passing is something that will be with you always.
the flow and emotional content was excellent. Good write sad subject

Though being the first one to know won't change anything but still it surely hurts realizing that you are the last one to know.
To me this was more of a release than a poem & thats what makes this one special.
