A flutter of hope...

by Matthew Schut   Jan 20, 2012

Butterflies fill my stomach,
tingles run down my spine,
I get speechless talking to you,
and I got lost with the track of time.

It has been a year since we were together,
but the sound of your voice makes me smile,
I still think about you before I go to bed,
even though we are thousands of miles.

I was walking outside today,
thinking about the good ol' days,
reminiscing on the love we shared,
and the sweet words we would say.

Suddenly, I heard a soft whisper,
the voice sounds familiar but unsure who,
as I slowly turn around, I'm all alone,
and I realize, my heart whispered, "I still love you"

Awww this poem is so sad, but sweet at the same time. I love the title, it was really nicely written. I also reallly loved the first stanza, I could feel the emotions you expressed so well. You told a sad but bittersweet story.

Really enjoyed your poem. Well done! :)
