Our Silly House Guest

by Maple Tree   Jan 22, 2012

We have a guest that lives in this house
it's not an insect or a fluffy white mouse
it doesn't hide within holes under the sink
or plays in garbage which causes a stink.

Our roommate is tiny, with bells on her toes
she kisses the cat on her furry brown nose
dances with glee on the couches and chairs
teases my husband, stalks him and stares.

She leaves a bit of powder in places unseen
giggles in pocketbooks, hooked on caffeine
this little friend is full of mischief and magic
stealing our shoes, it's really quite tragic.

She glows in the dark, and sparkles in the sun
plays in my makeup when she wants to have fun
I call her the Queen of the Pixies, my tiny little twin
born from an imagination, where no human has been.

My spouse blames me for tricks being done
but I simply tell him, "not I", its only begun
she'll never stop causing chaos and havoc
truth be told it's all telepathic.

I am innocent, it's really quite clear
writing poetry in silence when she is near
I couldn't possibly create such disaster
my bodies slow and she's much faster.

(giggles as I write, my imagination is fun
this little rhyme was written by me and the little one
we are the same, but don't tell the Mister
if he finds out the truth, I'll blame it on his sister.)
