Scarlet and the King

by Maple Tree   Feb 24, 2012

I must admit thine eyes are droopy
a peasents wish hath left me loopy

slumber awaits a lifeless ole wench
empty hands yearning for a half pence on a bench

whisked away to dreamland's unknown
my king doth beckon for me on his thrown.

I grant him a chicken, a bore, and a goat
he tousled my body upon a broken down boat.

Exiled me to an Island for harlots
now I sing for my supper, they call me Scarlet....

Note: I've been having sleeping issues, and by the end of the week, this Is what leaks out of my silly ole brain~
enjoy!

Insomnia is troubling for everyone. It destabilises the body system making one weak and worn out. I love the outcome of such a beautiful story-like piece when having sleeping issues. It's refreshing, captivating and makes you feel there's more to it. Nice vivid descriptions and humourous. I so much love the 'Scarlet', gives the subject an admirable desiring personality. Marvelous poem dear, simply breathtaking and funny. BRAVO! :).

I get like that too sometimes having trouble sleeping. I did last night and I feel like crap today lol It is only normal that our brains don't work often with lack of sleep.
