And have a miserable new year

by Dark Secrets   Feb 26, 2012

Crack...
goes my pen
... breaking

while droplets trickle
dissolving into the red ink
which clashes
... onto the paper

I cannot fake emotions
my pen cannot express
a happy new year
when it starts with
the splatter of young blood
on the cement of the streets
of my country

with the death of innocence
starts our year

and we hope
... still
spite the puddles of crimson
emerging around us
for freedom
and the day when our flag hangs high
in honor of those souls
which gave so much for our land

RIP Sayed Hashim :(

* Written in January 2012, after the death of Sayed Hashim, 14 years old, killed by AlKhalifa.

Wow this was a great poem. The way you took that pen with the ink turning it into blood expressing deep emotion from the war. It was very good. Nice write. :)

May his soul rest in eternal peace and Jan'natul Firdaus be his final abode, Ameen. This is sad poem but written so deep that one can feel the pains revolving within this piece. Its so unfortunate how we find ourselves in such pandemonium in our societies; day in, day out. May the Almighty intervene and help us through this chaotic period, ameen. A brilliant piece, gloomy but crafted with vivid imagery, smooth flow and simple words but very profound in message. Keep up the good work, more wisdom to your gift. Mashallah! Dear, blessings to you. :)
