My Butterfly

by Maple Tree   Mar 4, 2012

The man to my left
coils his pain riddled
body, such as a cocoon.

He is my butterfly
broken wings,
radiating beautiful.

Locked within a mason jar
labeled "Cancer"
he's more than a disease.

His soul Is a rhapsody
of bright aura shades,
a man with a heart of gold.

He brightens my world
even on the darkest of days
every time he smiles.

My love; You can still fly,
everyday I feel you flutter
deep inside my heart....

Oh my, Maple!!! This was incredible!!! The sincerity - I'm astonished! I can tell how much he means to you, Honey. This reaches deep within, and tugs on the readers heart-strings. Beautiful and tragic, Oh I am so so very sorry!! You both are in my prayers!! He's bigger than this disease, He'll overcome it! :') Keep faith!! Remarkable piece!! Absolutely.

This was just a beautiful write.

    He is my butterfly
    broken wings,
    radiating beautiful.

This was my favourite stanza I'd have to say because it very poetically says...I love you ...warts and all.

    Locked within a mason jar
    labeled "Cancer"
    he's more than a disease.

This one also because I loved the double meaning in it.

The only small critique I can give is...I wasn't very keen on you using...my husband because it really wasn't necessary....even to those who don't know the situation...I think they may have still worked out that you are talking about someone you love..hope that makes sense?

Bombshell imagery that paints a somber picture yet it exudes so much love and hope.' He's more than a disease ' -that line is so beautiful -love conquers all ! X
