Before the flame and heat become cold

by Tom Swart   Mar 8, 2012

There is a soft familiar glow on my horizon,
It is closer now than it has ever been.
I have seen this candles reflection in life's ocean before
My spirit gladly embraces and loves the dying wick.

The sweet simple emotion captures me now
It holds and caresses the rhythm of my heart.
The floors and roofs of this chamber tremble
As the pale echo of each beat grows weaker .

There is a rush now to reach the threshold
Before the flame and heat become cold.
I am slowly being consumed by loves tears
As my heart melts and finds rest for eternity.
